Sonja Swanepoel is a sculptor and environmental architect. Reconnection to nature and the interconnectedness of all things underpin her work. Her sculptures intend to convey ecological messages regarding our deteriorating relationship with nature to inspire acts of restoration and conservation.

Humanity has been forming associations with living birds since the beginning of time. Can iconographical sculpture trigger collective thoughts? How can art create proxy with nature and how can sculpture as an ancient art form reconnect us to the planet?
